They state that the users computer has been downloading malware and other rogue software from the internet and it is now at risk from viruses and other faults. They ask if you can sit at your computer and they will assist you through getting rid of these problems. These calls are a hoax, microsoft or no other security companies will ever call end users about this. Any calls from anyone like this should always be ignored, and never give any credit or debit card details to these companies even if the caller asks for these. To keep your computer protected always have microsoft updates switched on in security centre (in control panel) and always install these if the microsoft update icon appears on the right hand side in the system tray panel. Install the updates by clicking on the update icon with your mouse pointer. Also always have a good internet security suite installed and up to date, which includes an anti-virus and firewall then your computer should stay protected from any malicious software.
